This is for an Antique five-piece antique sterling silver tea and coffee service, attributed to Baltimore Sterling Silver Company, pattern number 1000. The service includes a teapot, coffee pot, covered sugar bowl, creamer, and waste bowl, with a combined recorded weight of 2,633 grams. These are paired with a Silver Plate Gorham tea Service Butlers tray.

The chased decoration gives this service a richly detailed appearance, creating ornamental surfaces that catch the light and bring depth and texture to the silver. Arranged together, the five coordinating pieces make an impressive display for a dining table, sideboard, or silver collection.

Maker and Estimated Age

Based on the reported crown-over-B hallmark and sterling markings, this service was crafted by the Baltimore Sterling Silver Company of Baltimore, Maryland, the predecessor of The Stieff Company.

An approximate date around 1900; the exact year of manufacture has not been established, But was crafted before 1904 as the Baltimore Sterling Co was in production from 1893 to 1904 when it became The Stieff Company and renamed in 1904, and had different markings. Thus Making the set at least 130 years old!!

The marked number 1000 is recorded as the pattern or model number, rather than a production date. These are also marked Sterling and 925 along with the Baltimore marking of a crown and a stamped B, all are worn due to age but can see how matches up with documented marks.

Material and Identifying Details

The service is described as .925 sterling silver with chased decoration and pattern number 1000. A letter "D" monogram is noted on the underside, adding a personal detail to the set's history while keeping the inscription beneath the pieces.

The taller coffee pot and lower teapot provide a pleasing variation in height, complemented by the covered sugar bowl, creamer, and open waste bowl. Together, they form a traditional five-piece tea and coffee service. Historically, the waste bowl received leftover tea or discarded liquid before a cup was refreshed and is usually a harder piece to find!

This substantial service would make a beautiful focal point among antique porcelain, crystal stemware, or other silver pieces. Its coordinated forms and decorative silverwork offer an elegant presentation for those who appreciate antique American silver and the traditions of a thoughtfully arranged tea table.

The tea and coffee service is shown displayed on a Gorham Strasbourg silver-plated large waiter serving tray, model YC777, measuring approximately 26 × 19 inches. The tray provides a beautiful presentation for the service.

The offering consists of the five listed serving pieces, including the sugar bowl lid and tray to make a total of 7 pieces. Please review the photographs for the decorative details, underside markings, monogram, and lovely condition all pieces are in.
