Vintage Dhokra Lost Wax Hindu Oil Lamp Tribal Bronze Folk Art Cobra Ritual Lamp

This is for a beautiful vintage Dhokra lost-wax cast Hindu oil lamp, a remarkable example of traditional Indian tribal metalwork. Created using the ancient lost-wax casting technique, each Dhokra piece is individually handcrafted, making every example unique. This lamp most likely dates to the mid-20th century.

Oil lamps hold deep spiritual significance in Hinduism and are commonly used in homes and temples during daily worship (puja). This style is known as a single-wick lamp, traditionally filled with ghee or oil and lit with a cotton wick during morning or evening prayers.

In Hindu tradition, the flame symbolizes the removal of darkness and ignorance while representing wisdom, knowledge, and divine presence. The lamp is often placed before an image of a deity, allowing worshippers to view the divine during prayer.

Many also believe the oil symbolizes negative energy while the wick represents the ego, with the burning flame signifying spiritual purification.
