Antique Silver Plated Wine Cooler Lion Head Cachepot Jardiniere Neoclassical Urn

This is for a beautiful antique silver-plated wine cooler, cachepot, or jardinière featuring an elegant Neoclassical design with impressive lion head handles, lion paw feet, and a richly decorated floral rim. This substantial statement piece is equally at home displayed as fine barware or as an elegant decorative centerpiece.

The cooler is beautifully crafted with silver plate over copper, a hallmark of quality antique metalwork. Only a small amount of the underlying copper is visible on a few of the highest raised areas, adding to the authentic character and antique charm of the piece.

Although unmarked, the style, construction, and craftsmanship suggest it dates to the late 19th to early 20th century (circa 1890–1910) and is most likely of Continental European origin, probably French or Italian.

The applied lion heads flow into gracefully modeled handles, while the vessel rests upon detailed lion paw feet. A decorative floral border surrounds the rim, completing the sophisticated Neoclassical design.

The silver plate remains in better-than-age-appropriate antique condition with only minimal copper bleed-through on a few raised areas. The applied rim and feet are original to the piece. As is common with hand-finished antiques of this age, the legs are not perfectly straight, although the cooler sits nicely for display. Because the metal is thick yet relatively soft, care should be taken not to over-adjust the feet or rim.

This elegant antique is ready to become a beautiful addition to any French Country, Italian, Neoclassical, Traditional, Hollywood Regency, or European-inspired home for years to come.
