Rare Antique English Brass Peacock Fan Fireplace Screen Victorian Hearth Decor

This is for a wonderful large and exceptionally rare antique English solid brass "Peacock Fan" fireplace screen, dating from the late 1800s to early 1900s. Weighing an impressive 17 pounds, this is one of the heaviest and finest examples of an antique folding fireplace fan I have had the opportunity to offer.

Unlike the lighter, mass-produced fireplace fans commonly found from the 1970s and 1980s, this authentic antique is crafted from heavy solid English brass with outstanding workmanship and remarkable attention to detail. The quality of the casting, weight, and intricate pierced brass work clearly set it apart from later reproductions.

Whether displayed fully opened before a fireplace or folded closed beside the hearth, this impressive piece serves as both a functional fireplace screen and an extraordinary decorative object.

The fan features richly detailed Victorian styling on both sides, highlighted by:
An ornate raised solid brass centerpiece on the base
A beautifully sculpted shell-form crest
A substantial solid brass finial handle for carrying
Intricately pierced peacock fan blades with decorative openwork extending to the tips of each feather

When opened, the pierced filigree beautifully reflects firelight and ambient lighting, creating elegant patterns that enhance any room.

The folding fan closes securely using the original side hooks for convenient storage when not in use.
