Vintage Gatco Lion Head Bookends Pair Lacquered Brass Heavy Bookends

This is for a rare and handsome pair of vintage Gatco lion head bookends. These stately lacquered brass bookends feature beautifully sculpted lion heads with expressive detailing, making them both functional book holders and elegant decorative sculptures.

Each bookend measures approximately 5 inches tall x 4.5 inches wide x 4 inches deep. They are filled with a weighted material, likely cement, giving them excellent stability and substantial weight to securely support books.

Unlike unlacquered brass, these bookends feature a factory lacquered finish, helping preserve their warm golden color without the need for regular polishing. They retain their original Gatco maker's label on the base, adding to their collectibility.

These versatile lion bookends can be displayed on a bookshelf, office desk, library, mantel, or console table. They also look wonderful separated and used as decorative lion sculptures flanking a framed photograph, clock, or other favorite decorative object.
