Richard Meier Swid Powell Silver Plate Candlesticks Pair Post Modern Italy

This is for an amazing and rare pair of Post Modern silver plated candlesticks designed by renowned architect and designer Richard Meier for Swid Powell. Produced in Italy during the 1980s, these striking statement pieces exemplify the sophisticated modern design aesthetic that made the Swid Powell collaborations so influential among collectors of contemporary decorative arts.

Unlike many of Meier's more geometric and grid-inspired designs, this pair features a softer sculptural form with graceful circular elements that create a bold yet elegant presence. Their architectural styling, substantial scale, and refined proportions make them highly desirable examples of late 20th-century designer metalwork.

Each candlestick is marked on the base with the Swid Powell maker's mark and "Made in Italy." The silver plate has polished beautifully and displays exceptionally well, showing only minimal wear consistent with age and careful use.

Meier created numerous iconic designs for Nan Swid and Addie Powell during the 1980s, but this particular design stands out for its distinctive rounded profile and impressive scale.
